Who We Are:
Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue, Inc. (formerly Baton Rouge Doberman Rescue) ise. It is staffed entirely by non-paid volunteers with a mission to rescue, rehabilitate and place previously unwanted Dobermans in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. We spend hours of our personal time, drive hundreds of miles and spend thousands of dollars to rescue unwanted and abused Dobermans. We are dedicated to the care and well being of the Doberman breed. Most of us have been involved with this breed for years. Some members are involved in conformation, agility, search and rescue and AKC obedience. We are always more than happy to answer any questions you may have about this breed.
What We Do:
We rescue sick, unwanted, abused Dobermans from shelters and occasionally owners. We focus our efforts in the state of Louisiana as well as the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. We attend to their veterinary needs, cure their souls and match them with new, caring owners. We require an adoption application be completed by each interested party.
Why We Do It:

For the love of the breed. Period!
We feel that every Doberman deserves a loving, permanent home and we're willing to lend a hand to help make that a reality. Without rescue thousands of unwanted Dobermans would be euthanized every year.

Interested in Adopting?

There is a $300.00 adoption fee for every adult Doberman. On rare occasion, we have puppies come into our program. The adoption fee for puppies under 6 months of age is $350.00. If the puppy is under 12 weeks of age and you wish to have the ears cropped, please speak with us about our ear cropping policy. Senior Dobermans (over 7 years of age) have an adoption fee of $200.00. This adoption fee goes towards offsetting the substantial costs incurred in rescuing, rehabilitating and administering of veterinary treatment for these Dobermans. All Dobermans available for adoption have been spayed or neutered (there is NO exception), vaccinated against Distemper, Parvo, Bordetella (kennel cough) and Rabies. They have been tested (and treated if necessary) for heartworms and intestinal parasites. All rescued Dobermans are microchipped with the AVID Friend Chip.

We require an adoption application be completed by each interested party. Once on file, you will be contacted by a volunteer who will discuss with you your needs and available dogs. Often we will visit with you in your home to get acquainted with other family members (human and animal). If we have a dog that matches your needs and personal situation, you will then be invited to visit with the dog. All members of your family (humans and K9's) should plan on coming for that initial visit.

All dogs are placed on a contract. We have seen the hollowed look in their eyes once, we never want to see it again!

We typically only place dogs in the states of Louisiana and Mississippi. If you are located outside of these areas, please visit the DPCA COPE Rescue site and look for the rescue in your area.

Want to Help?
Rescue is forever in need of caring individuals to volunteer their time. We are greatly in need of foster homes, people to return phone calls and people who can help transport dogs from shelters and to/from the kennel or veterinarian. If you are able to help in any way, please e-mail us.
